FIVE EDITIONS OF BUS2BUS - REFLECTIONS AND FUTURE OUTLOOK

In this episode, Kerstin Kube-Erkens and Christiane Leonhard talk about five years of BUS2BUS, the development of bus transport and the role of the bdo.

In this episode, Kerstin Kube-Erkens, Project Manager of BUS2BUS, and Christiane Leonhard, Managing Director of the German Bus and Coach Operators’ Association (bdo), look back on five years of BUS2BUS. They talk about successful digital events during the coronavirus pandemic, the visibility of buses as an environmentally friendly means of transport and the importance of direct dialogue and experiencing technologies on site for bus companies and political decision-makers. At the same time, they take a look at the 20-year history of the German Bus and Coach Operators’ Association. Christiane Leonhard explains the tasks and responsibilities of the bdo as a trade association and its role in representing political interests at federal and European level.

In this episode, you will find out to what extent technological advances as well as political and economic decisions are influencing the direction of the industry. Visionary topics such as autonomous driving, AI and data-supported mobility are just as much a part of the conversation as the shortage of skilled labour, the Deutschlandticket and political efforts to improve the framework conditions for bus companies. Christiane Leonhard reveals why she would like to see a faster development of pooling transport and why she considers it necessary to improve the digital infrastructure in public transport.

The discussion illustrates why events such as BUS2BUS with interactive formats and a direct exchange between traditional entrepreneurs, start-ups and politicians continue to be crucial for the future of bus transport.
