Virtual BUS2BUS Special Edition in April: smart ideas for restarting the bus industry

On 15 April at 10 a.m. BUS2BUS will be kicking off with its Special Edition. It consists of four elements: BUS2Inspire, BUS2Explore, BUS2Insights and the presentation of the International busplaner Sustainability Award. The aim of this live virtual event is to provide new ideas for eco-friendly mobility. Thus the BUS2BUS Special Edition is following up its tried and tested concept, combining inspiration and expertise and offering the bus industry an outstanding meeting place again this year.

“Climate change continues, even in the current situation, which is why we have to maintain a dialogue. Our concept for the virtual BUS2BUS Special Edition focuses on the potential of buses to enable flexible and sustainable mobility. Only by continually exchanging knowledge can we provide the necessary ideas and help restart the industry“, commented Kerstin Kube-Erkens, product architect for Messe Berlin.

BUS2Inspire – pushing for more sustainability

Kicking off the Special Edition will be BUS2Inspire, the platform for ideas. Opening the event, President of the Federal Association of German Bus Operators Karl Hülsmann and Messe Berlin CEO Martin Ecknig will share their thoughts on the possibilities for a future world of sustainable mobility. Afterwards, the BUS2BUS community can participate interactively with questions.

Part two of BUS2Inspire will bring the various voices and perspectives of the industry together. It will open with two keynote speeches examining the situation in the bus industry and outlining fascinating ideas for adapting buses as a sustainable form of transport. During the discussion representatives of OEMs and enablers will also have their say and offer their views on the acute pain points in sustainable mobility. For maximum interaction the public will be able to ask questions in the virtual debate.

In the last part of the debut virtual BUS2BUS, Christiane Leonard, managing director of the Federal Association of German Bus Operators, and Kerstin Kube-Erkens will look ahead to BUS2BUS 2022 being an in-person event in Berlin again.

This will be followed by the presentation of the International busplaner Sustainability Award.

BUS2Explore – interactively sharing the pioneering spirit of global players

Following the BUS2BUS Special Edition, beginning at 1.30 p.m. BUS2Explore will feature interactive expert discussions in the Special Edition’s virtual space. The main themes will be the pioneering spirit and Fresh Travel. At the Tech-Boost the focus will be on achieving the transition to sustainable mobility in these times of the pandemic. Companies offering smart mobility solutions will exchange ideas on new standards.

At the second Tech-Boost Session global players will discuss hydrogen power as a climate-friendly drive technology. Rounding off the event at the Fresh Travel session, experts will examine how customer needs can become focus of innovation in the bus tourism industry.

Playing an active role: BUS2Insights connects the industry on a virtual innovation platform

„We believe that making the transition to sustainable mobility requires a dialogue between a whole range of players. That is why we are offering companies a virtual platform for their latest innovations. Therefore, BUS2Insights will not only be a prelude to BUS2BUS 2022, it will also feature the state of the art ahead of tomorrow’s world of intelligent, sustainable mobility“, said Kube-Erkens.

At BUS2Insights companies will have an opportunity to be featured with their own video. The focus will be on presenting innovative solutions. The presentations will take place live parallel with the virtual event and can be accessed over a period of three months. More details are available here
