BUS2BUS 2022: Trade Show and Congress for the Bus Industry in Berlin
Product innovations, specialist presentations and networking events make BUS2BUS the industry's most important innovation platform. It will take place on 27 and 28 April 2022, making it the bus industry's first on-site event since the Corona pandemic. It is organized by Messe Berlin and the German Bus and Coach Operators’ Association (bdo), which represents 3,000 private bus operators in Germany.
Visitors can expect a diverse program. BUS2BUS combines three event elements under one roof: the Trade Show, where exhibitors from Germany and abroad present their innovations, the Future Forum and the bdo Congress with an interesting program of talks and discussions, and the BUS2Specials with various formats for networking.
There is plenty of space to learn about innovations and exchange ideas. A flexible hygiene concept takes into account the currently applicable Corona regulations and thus ensures the safety of those attending.
Technology and design
Innovations to look at and touch will be on display at the Trade Show in Halls 19 20 and 21. Bus and coach manufacturers and suppliers from Germany and abroad have already confirmed their participation, including MAN, EvoBus, Daimler Buses, OTOKAR, VDL Bus & Coach, Iveco Magirus, Ebusco, Switch Mobility and Skoda. These and other well-known manufacturers will bring a wide range of products. Visitors can see both coaches and buses for local transport on the exhibition grounds. Around ten models will be available for test drives in the outdoor area. Young companies from the mobility industry will be presenting themselves in the Startup Area.
The core themes of the Trade Show are sustainability and innovations. The focus of BUS2BUS 2022 will be on alternative drives, new infrastructures, retrofitting options, and digital services, among other things. One important topic is new turning assistants. Systems based on artificial intelligence (AI) make buses even safer in urban traffic. This also demonstrates the industry's adaptability. Due to its adaptability, the bus is predestined to provide short-term answers to the challenges of innovative and sustainable mobility.
Thanks to new materials and production techniques, coaches have long since become objects of style and design, customizable in vessel size and equipment. BUS2BUS would like to stimulate the discussion on how design and aesthetics can contribute to a higher attractiveness and perception of buses in public life. Innovative concepts for bus tourism and long-distance transport will be presented under the keyword "Fresh Travel". BUS2BUS is particularly pleased that upcoming designers will also be presenting their ideas for the bus of the future. Cooperation with universities is also a new aspect of BUS2BUS.
Exchange and Debate
At the Future Forum and bdo Congress in Halls 20 and 21, speakers from business, politics and research will provide valuable insights into the future of the bus industry and discuss current challenges. The opening keynote on April 27, 2022 will be given by innovation expert and author Lars Behrendt, CEO of the innovation agency Granny & Smith. He will address the opportunities on the way to sustainable, and innovative mobility.
In keeping with this, the exchange in the following program revolves around new drive types and infrastructures. The role of buses in rural areas, on-demand services and future technologies such as autonomous driving are also topics on the podium.
The bdo Congress is being held under the heading "Mobility & Environment". It discusses funding opportunities for the bus industry, but also the question of how it can improve its image in the public perception. The contribution of private bus companies to the transport turnaround and fair competition as the key to strong public transport, will be discussed under the title "Competition & Change".
To take advantage of the opportunity for personal exchange, visitors at BUS2BUS can expect a new event feature this year. As part of the BUS2Specials, companies and experts will invite around 20 people at a time to workshops on the exhibition floor to exchange and deepen their knowledge. At BUS2Insights, companies can present their innovations. At BUS2Pitch, startups have the opportunity to present themselves to a broad audience of experts and convince a jury of their innovations. They can look forward to exclusive prizes.
Political representatives have been requested for the opening of BUS2BUS on April 27, 2022. In addition, bdo President Karl Hülsmann, bdo Vice President Dr. Sandra Schnarrenberger and the CEO of Messe Berlin, Martin Ecknig, have announced their participation. The opening tour will provide insights into innovative products and buses.
Tickets for BUS2BUS are available exclusively online. There will be no box office on site. A discount for advanced ticket sales is available until April 15, 2022.
The Day and 2-Day Pass entitle the ticket holder to access the Trade Show, the Future Forum and the bdo Congress, BUS2Specials and the new BUS2BUS plus Online Platform. The BUS2BUS plus Online Platform will feature exhibitor and product presentations as well as extensive networking opportunities with a matching function, appointment setting, chats and video calls. Selected parts of the stage program will also be streamed.
BUS2BUS, an innovative business platform for the bus and supplier industry in Germany that focuses exclusively on the bus industry, has been held since 2017. BUS2BUS 2019 was attended by more than 1,700 trade visitors from 34 countries and 103 exhibiting companies from 13 countries. Preparations for BUS2BUS 2022 indicate that the Trade Show will be even bigger, with more buses and test drive opportunities than ever before. With the combination of a Trade Show, an informative stage program of Future Forum and bdo Congress tracks, as well as workshops and presentations (BUS2Specials), it will cover the entire range of future technologies and showcase the latest trends and innovations in the bus industry. The next BUS2BUS will take place from 27 to 28 April 2022 in Berlin.
