Buses in Action

No two buses are the same, and visitors to BUS2BUS will be able to get an impression of the latest generation of eco-friendly buses at the Outdoor Display on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds. The test circuit around the Summer Garden, which can be accessed via the exits between Halls 20 and 21, will provide an opportunity to find out more about the design of various buses and what it is like to drive them. The Outdoor Display will feature buses from K-Bus, Karsan, Anadolu Isuzu, CaetanoBus, Ebusco, OTOKAR, SKODA/TEMSA and two models from MAN.
The driver training bus from Christoph Kaiser Driving School and Driving Instructor Training Center will offer an even more direct experience. On the outdoor display area and accompanied by a driving school instructor, visitors can get behind the wheel of a bus and find out for themselves what it is like to drive a modern, safe and eco-friendly bus. Appointments can be made at the stand of the German Bus and Coach Operators Association (bdo) in Hall 20 Stand 301.
In addition to vehicles, the Outdoor Display is also displaying the necessary infrastructure. Kempower will be represented with its T Series DC chargers. These devices are ideal for cities and bus fleet operators conducting e-mobility pilot projects. The chargers merely require an electricity supply without any complex installation procedure. Thus, visitors can test low-emissions, low-noise technology without the need to invest in a large-scale charging infrastructure.
Live Podcasts from BUS2BUS and Hanse Mondial

In an exclusive collaboration with the ’Bustalk Live’ and ’Zweibahnstrasse’ broadcasts by the Hamburg-based coach rental company Hanse Mondial, the Podcast of BUS2BUS, BUS2Talk is setting up a mobile podcast studio on the exhibition grounds.
The podcast cooperation features experts speaking live from the Trade Show on current topics. For example, the podcast moderators and Michael Buller, VIR - Verband Internet Reisevertrieb, will debate Fresh Travel approaches designed to make bus tourism more attractive. Peter Freedman, Switch Mobility's Chief Marketing and Sustainability Officer, will discuss electric drives and zero emissions and what it takes to deliver a truly sustainable, economical bus.
The CEO of pepper motion, Andreas Hager, talks about the switch to electric and hydrogen drives and Marco Voigt, co-founder of the GREENTECH FESTIVAL in Berlin, gives insights into smart mobility solutions in the world of autonomous driving.
Other guests from the bus tourism industry such as Luca Bortolani from the startup Twiliner, Head of Sales, Michael Ellert from TimeRide, who tells us what it takes to make bus tourism popular again, and Finn Peters from Peters Reisen will be featured in the podcast recording.
The podcasts can be listened to through the major podcast streaming providers.
Speaker and Exhibitor Insights
Tomorrow’s technology is also attracting many visitors to BUS2BUS. Nicole Scott, a journalist and TV producer from Beyond Innovation: “Self-driving vehicles are no longer moonshot technology. At the same time, designing a safe and reliable self-driving vehicle is one of the biggest challenges of our times. Fleets of driverless minibuses are already operating in Oslo, and the bus sector is the driving force for a wider introduction of this technology. I am looking forward to BUS2BUS because it provides a clear overview of the industry status quo and future developments.“
Another important topic is bus design. Nicolas Tschechne, Manager of Trend Research & Customer Guidance at Airbus, says: “Design is the medium for repeatedly balancing many new and changing needs and satisfying them with products and services. Both the needs and possibilities for comfort, relaxation and productivity on one’s trip have increased. Thus, the journey is increasingly becoming a productive element and part of the experience. I am looking forward to BUS2BUS 202 because only through communicating and exchanging views face-to-face can we inspire each other, gain new insights and improve travelling together.“

Exhibitors see the Trade Show as an important opportunity to push the issue of sustainability. Thomas Hering, Head of Sales, ABB: “ABB E-mobility GmbH aims to demonstrate how sustainable mobility can function in the bus sector. That is why we are looking forward to our first appearance as an exhibitor at BUS2BUS this year. Most of all, we are looking forward to meeting people on the grounds again.”
Tanya Altmann, Senior Vice President of Bus Mobility, ŠKODA Transportation Deutschland GmbH: “We are delighted that we are at last able to present our successful and sustainable products to everyone in Germany at BUS2BUS. Our group produced the first trolleybus 85 years ago. Naturally, our product range also includes battery-electric and fuel cell buses. We have everything that modern cities need.“
Boris Höltermann, Managing Director of VDL Bus & Coach Deutschland GmbH: “BUS2BUS is the first bus industry event to be taking place after a long break, and we are looking forward to the atmosphere as well as a personal exchange of views on current and future challenges. On our stand we have information and will be showing trade visitors our new generation of Citea buses, because ’zero compromise’ is the new standard of VDL Bus
