  • Largest presence ever: BVG sets the standard for modern, future-oriented mobility in Berlin at BUS2BUS 2026

As a partner of the first BUS2BUS Bus Drivers’ Day, BVG is highlighting the bus driving profession and the sustainable development of bus transportation; the company will be on-site with an interactive booth and will contribute to the professional program.

With its largest presence to date, the Berlin Transport Authority (BVG) is committed to securing skilled workers and the future of bus transportation at BUS2BUS 2026 on April 15 and 16 at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds. With its growing e-bus fleet and new depots, the company is creating attractive workplaces and diverse technical and driving career opportunities in the metropolis.

As one of Berlin’s largest employers and a partner of the inaugural Bus Drivers’ Day, the company is bringing the profession of bus driving and the future of bus transportation into sharp focus for the industry, showcasing its presence with its own interactive stand, and actively contributing to the professional program with several presentations.

    Partner of Bus Drivers' Day

At the heart of this initiative is the message: Without drivers, nothing moves. Together with BUS2BUS and the German Bus and Coach Operators’ Association (bdo), the BVG is actively helping to organize the Bus Drivers’ Day on April 16. The goal is to enhance the appeal of the profession, reach new target groups, and highlight concrete career prospects in modern public transit.

BVG is also present at the exhibition: With its own interactive exhibition stand in the hall and outdoor area, the company offers insights into careers, training, and entry-level opportunities in the bus sector.

Inside the hall, the BVG Job Bus serves as a mobile recruiting platform and a direct point of contact for interested parties and potential applicants. Two professional driving simulators based on the “The Bus” simulation offer a realistic driving experience on Berlin’s public transit routes. In the outdoor area, a driving school bus provides a hands-on experience of training and certification in the bus sector.

    Strong Presence in the Program

The BVG is also contributing to the program with several presentations, offering insights on employer attractiveness, electrification, and the future of bus transportation.

On April 15, Tennessee Herchenbach, Head of Recruiting & Training at BVG, will deliver the keynote address “Attitude Matters – Internally and Externally: How Leadership, Culture, and Employer Branding Must Come Together” on the importance of leadership, corporate culture, and credible employer branding for successful recruitment of skilled workers.

Dr. Daniel Hesse, Head of the Omnibus Technology Business Unit at BVG, will provide insights into key future topics in bus operations during the session “From the Depot to the End of the Line: Why Charging Infrastructure for E-Buses Remains Challenging“ – ranging from the expansion of the e-bus fleet and new depots to the development of charging infrastructure in the Berlin metropolitan area.

At the Future Forum, BVG Board Member Jenny Zeller-Grothe will discuss in the session “Costs, Costs, Costs: What's Left for Innovation?”, together with industry representatives, how innovations can be financed and driven forward despite rising costs for personnel, energy, and vehicle fleets.

A speaker stands on the “Deep Dive Stage” at BUS2BUS and speaks into a microphone in front of a seated audience; a screen with the inscription “Young Mobility Network” is visible in the background.

On April 16, as part of Bus Drivers’ Day, the spotlight will be on the bus driving profession: In the session “Get on Board with BVG: Your Path to a Job as a Bus Driver”, representatives from recruiting, HR marketing, and onboarding will present entry-level opportunities at the BVG and offer insights into career paths and support services for new bus drivers.

A subsequent panel discussion with industry representatives – “What Makes the Bus Driver Profession So Unique?” – will highlight the requirements, prospects, and social significance of the profession, from day-to-day responsibilities to direct contact with passengers.

With its strong presence at BUS2BUS, the BVG is thus sending a clear signal for the future of bus transportation—grounded in practical experience, in dialogue with the industry, and with a clear focus on people, innovation, and skilled workers.
