Stress-free travel for everyone: Altro’s “Universal Bus” intuitively guides passengers, minimizes distractions, and offers flexible seating—and has been honored at the MUSE Design Awards.
Altro, a manufacturer of flooring for the transportation sector, has developed the holistic interior concept “Universal Bus” for buses in collaboration with the design agency Neomind. Visual stimuli have been reduced to enable stress-free journeys and clear orientation, particularly for people with neurodivergent and neurodegenerative conditions. Colors and functional materials structure the space. Passengers are guided intuitively, and the seats can be arranged flexibly. The concept was developed in collaboration with disability organizations and based on passenger surveys. In March, the “Universal Bus” won gold in the “Transportation – Rapid Bus” category and silver in the “Transportation – Mass Transit Systems” category at the international MUSE Design Awards 2026.
