The stage is set for the bus industry

A comprehensive programme of papers and discussions awaits visitors to BUS2BUS on 27 and 28 April 2022 in Berlin. Tickets are available now from the online shop. Startups still have until 28 February to apply for a free appearance at the fair.

While exhibitors present new vehicles and accessories at the trade fair, a wide-ranging programme awaits visitors to BUS2BUS on two stages. In Halls 20 and 21 at the fair, both the Future Forum and the congress of the German Bus and Coach Operators’ Association (bdo) will be taking place. Speakers representing industry, politics and science will share valuable insights into the bus industry’s future and discuss the latest challenges.

Future Forum and bdo congress: fit for the future

With his opening keynote speech, innovation expert and book author Lars Behrendt, CEO of the innovation agency Granny & Smith, will address the opportunities for the bus industry on its way to achieving sustainable, innovative mobility. Few other vehicles are as flexible and modular as buses. The keynote speech will talk about the opportunities for the bus industry as being key among the various mobility options for the future.

At the Future Forum a track on ’New Drive Innovations’ will explore this theme even further. It will highlight the wide range of current alternative drives and provide an insight into the possibilities for financial support and the overall policy framework in Europe. The Future Forum sessions to follow will take a look at existing local and long-distance transport options.

’Fresh Travel I and II’ will discuss innovative concepts for bus tours and long-distance coach travel. Speakers will examine how operators and manufacturers can best satisfy customer demand where style, individual needs, sustainability and digitalisation are concerned, in order to make bus travel attractive for as wide an audience as possible. Together with individual actors, the ’Autonomous Intelligence’ session of the Future Forum will take a look at the latest developments in self-driving vehicles, and AI in the mobility sector.

This year’s bdo congress features two key themes. Under the heading ’Mobility & Environment’, speakers will talk about the possibilities for financial support for the bus industry. One issue will be why buses still generally have a poor image, even though they are officially a very safe and eco-friendly form of travel. The session entitled ’Competition & Change’ will look at how private bus companies are contributing to new transport concepts, and how fair competition is key to a resilient public transport system.

BUS2Insights also promises a fascinating programme, with a detailed look at the innovations of exhibiting companies.

Startup Area and BUS2Pitch: opportunities for startups

The stage is set for startups founded on or after 01 January 2015. At the BUS2Pitch they are invited to present their ideas to a wide-ranging professional audience and convince the jury of their innovations. A new feature this year is the special Fresh Travel award for the best idea for innovative bus travel.

Startups still have until 28 February 2022 to apply for one of the limited number of places in the BUS2BUS Startup Area. Participation is free. In addition to a free trade fair stand they will receive three exhibitor passes. The startups will be featured on the BUS2BUS plus online platform, in the visitor guide and in the official app. To apply, they can fill out an informal online form describing what makes their company’s idea unique.

Ticket shop: booking early is worthwhile

The ticket shop is open now. This year, tickets to BUS2BUS can be purchased online only. There are no ticket offices on the grounds. A ticket grants admission to the trade fair as well as the programme of papers at the Future Forum and bdo congress. Day tickets and unlimited passes both grant access to the BUS2BUS plus online platform. Exclusive access to the latter can be purchased under “Digital Only“, costing 25 euros. The platform features a wide range of networking opportunities as well as exhibitor and product presentations. Selected parts of the stage programme will also be streamed.

Ticket purchases up to and including 15 April 2022 are subject to a discount, with a day ticket costing 30 instead of 50 euros and an unlimited pass 40 instead of 75 euros.

BUS2BUS, an innovative business platform for the bus and supplier industry in Germany that focuses exclusively on the bus industry, has been held since 2017. BUS2BUS 2019 was attended by more than 1,700 trade visitors from 34 countries and 103 exhibiting companies from 13 countries. Preparations for BUS2BUS 2022 indicate that the Trade Show will be even bigger, with more buses and test drive opportunities than ever before. With the combination of a Trade Show, an informative stage program of Future Forum and bdo Congress tracks, as well as workshops and presentations (BUS2Specials), it will cover the entire range of future technologies and showcase the latest trends and innovations in the bus industry. The next BUS2BUS will take place from 27 to 28 April 2022 in Berlin.
