Virtual edition of BUS2BUS – Keen international interest in the virtual industry platform for sustainable mobility

• BUS2BUS Special Edition attracts large attention

• Successful early start to the in-person event BUS2BUS 2022 in Berlin

The successful launch of the virtual edition of BUS2BUS today confirmed how important the issue of sustainable mobility has become. Around 900 participants from 19 different countries took part in the Special Edition online. During the more than six-hour event, the focus was on buses as a sustainable transport solution. Three separate formats gave over 30 industry experts an opportunity to have their say and communicate their visions on the topic.

Topical nature of sustainable mobility brings different industries together

Martin Ecknig, CEO of Messe Berlin, emphasised the prospects that the mobility sector offered Messe Berlin. “The sector is undergoing a fascinating transition. The BUS2BUS Special Edition highlighted the future prospects for rapidly integrating sustainable transport solutions. As a trade fair company, we are happy as a platform to be able to bring the relevant players together and enable an important international dialogue.“

The bus industry made use of the BUS2BUS Special Edition to set the tone for restarting business

Karl Hülsmann, president of the Federal Association of German Bus Operators (bdo): “I am delighted that with the BUS2BUS Special Edition we were able to set the tone for a dialogue in the bus industry. Being able to take a look at the latest developments and innovations together is extremely important, particularly in light of the very difficult time we have experienced for over a year. The many users who took part also showed that the trade has keen interest in information and networking. Together with Messe Berlin we stand behind BUS2BUS.“

BUS2BUS 2022’s goal: to become a sustainable mobility trade fair in Berlin

With its concept for the in-person event, the team of BUS2BUS is preparing for innovative dialogue that focuses on the bus industry.

Commenting on the upcoming BUS2BUS in 2022, Christiane Leonard, managing director of the Federal Association of German Bus Operators (bdo) said: “Today’s virtual event was an excellent wake-up call. Personally, I benefited enormously and am delighted with the lively attendance. This is the perfect start to – and a good boost for – the next complete, in-person BUS2BUS in 2022 in Berlin. Already, it is becoming clear that after a crisis period of two years, 2022 will be incredibly important for building back the bus industry and for the transition we are embarking on together. Together with policymakers, local government and all the market players involved, we will have to discuss how the role of buses as a cornerstone of sustainable mobility can be improved. BUS2BUS 2022 will be the ideal venue at the best possible time. Today provided a perfect start.”

“The Special Edition demonstrated how urgent the demand is for a dialogue on sustainable mobility. We need an intelligent and consistent international exchange of ideas, particularly in these times of climate change and the pandemic. Next year, we aim to further intensify the discussions we had today in order to drive forward the concept of buses as a sustainable transport solution“, said Kerstin Kube-Erkens, senior product manager for BUS2BUS.

As a comprehensive business platform, from 27 to 28 April 2022 BUS2BUS will aim to give all its support to restarting business in the bus and supply industry and gather everyone involved again. In 2022, the attractive group of halls on the northern section of the Berlin Exhibition Grounds will be the venue for BUS2BUS.
