Whenever we talk about the future, we talk about assumptions. Speculative design can help translate these assumptions into emotional responses through situational immersion. Especially for innovation processes, a special relevance arises, as utopian and possibly risky ideas can be discussed. Experimental future artifacts provoke debates about possible futures that influence our decisions in the present. The exchange with people guarantees to create inclusive futures. We consciously start in a distant future and then move back - step by step - to the present. Using the topic area "Autonomous Mobility" as an example, we have gone through this process and developed future artefacts that shed light on aspects of the topic beyond the status quo debates and put them up for discussion. The crucial question is: "What if?"
